West Haymarket Thermal Energy Facility – Lincoln, NE

The new central utility plant serves the West Haymarket Development in Lincoln, NE, including the new Pinnacle Bank Arena. Farris Engineering acted as prime project manager, providing engineering design, consultation services and construction administration.
  • $12 million plant
  • Four 1,200 ton electric centrifugal chillers
  • Four 3,419 gpm cooling towers with two (2) fans each
  • Twelve 3 MMBtu condensing boilers, four (4) 750 kW electric boilers
  • 1000 kW emergency diesel generator

  • Centralized chiller plant with entirely poly piping system
  • Large-diameter piping in relatively small plant structure
  • Projected fewer chemical treatments required for operation of the plant

Southwest 40th St Thermal Energy Facility – Lincoln, NE

  • Awarded $5 million ARRA grant from the DOE
  • Serves as a Ground Source Heat Pump Demonstration for the DOE’s Geothermal Technologies Program
  • Serves the Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility
  • Twenty-five (25) nominal 70-ton water-to-water heat pumps
  • 667 bore geothermal wellfield

University of Nebraska at Omaha Central Utility Plant – Omaha, NE

  • $2.6 million upgrade to the central utility plant
  • Installation of an 800 BHP firetube boiler and a 400 BHP firetube boiler
  • Two (2) new 1,250 ton centrifugal chillers
  • Four (4) new chilled water pumps
  • 2,270 sf building addition was constructed to house the new plant capacity
