Tutt Library Expansion Receives 2019 AIA/ALA Library Building Award
Farris is honored to be part of the design team for the renovation and addition of Colorado College’s Tutt Library, currently the nation’s largest academic net zero energy library. Farris provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design services for this $45 million project that doubled the seating capacity and increased instructional spaces and social interaction.
A geothermal energy field consisting of 80 wells, each 400 feet deep, contribute to the building’s energy savings.
In addition to the recent award by the ALA, this project has received the 2017 Innovation Award from the National Association of College and University Business Officers; Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Recognition; and Reconstruction Gold Award from Building Design + Construction.
