Business Development Professional

Farris Engineering, a leader in providing quality designs for over 50 years, is looking to add a Business Development Professional to our Omaha, NE office team.

As part of a 60+ person, 100% employee owned, consulting firm, you will successfully identify opportunities, develop relationships and secure profitable work for the firm as a whole. Work individually with project managers to cultivate their own pipelines of work through client retention programs, client meetings, and coordination of CRM activities.  Provide direction on efforts to build successful brand awareness and develop other marketing/business development professionals in the department. Direct company efforts to track activities for accountability and internal information sharing.

Major job duties include:

Marketing

  • Carry out the plan for brand awareness by working with and using internal and external resources and a variety of methods such as marketing materials, events and communication.
  • Be a part of at least two industry-based organizations and in a leadership role with at least one.

Client and Business Development

  • Contact clients and prospects to build relationships and pursue new work.
  • Identify new BD opportunities with existing clients
  • Work with Project Managers and CM’s to organize and document all client activities, including leads, meetings, and follow ups with clients and prospects.
  • Identify training opportunities for PM’s/CM’s to improve client and business development opportunities, i.e. communication, follow up, needs analysis, closing etc.
  • Identify and document new Customers and Prospects in system.
  • Follow up on all expired lead and lost pursuits and seek client feedback.
  • Serve as the secondary interface between the client and Farris Engineering.
  • Document in Vision all interactions held with client.
  • Keep Deltek client info current (contacts, activities, event invites, etc)
  • Introduce other Farris Engineering staff to the client.
  • Coordinate client / Farris team events.
  • Coordinate with Farris team members to identify any issues with projects for the client.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years outside sales experience.
  • Experience with CRM system, preferably Deltek Vision.
  • Proven track record of sales success, experience in engineering, architecture or construction required.
  • College Degree in Engineering or Architecture a plus.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High-energy, self-motivated, well-organized
  • Ability to function within and contribute to a positive, team oriented, continuous learning environment
  • Must have ability to communicate and present effectively
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
