“To Benefit and Inspire” is how the International District Energy Association described the technical, energy, and cost saving elements of Farris Engineering’s SDSU North Chiller Plant design in its 4th Quarter 2017 IDEA magazine.

IDEA awarded three honorable mention awards this year to entries that demonstrated creativity in response to challenges. Their solutions, IDEA said, may benefit and inspire others in the industry contending with similar challenges.

The $11.3 million North Chiller Plant replaced air-cooled chillers in several buildings and labs. And, IDEA noted, it also serves the new Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium at South Dakota State University, home of Jackrabbit football.

Farris Engineering performed a feasibility study and oversaw total project design.
