Electrical Engineer – Colorado Springs, CO

Farris Engineering, a well-recognized leader along the Rocky Mountain Front Range and throughout the Midwest for its high level of expertise in Mechanical and Electrical engineering is currently seeking an energetic and self-motivated Electrical Engineer for our Colorado Springs, Colorado Electrical Department. This position offers a small office atmosphere with diverse work opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

As part of a 60+ person consulting firm you will be involved with projects of all types, budgets, and challenges primarily in Colorado but with some throughout the United States. Projects may range from a small office building renovation to a large military facility and include K-12 schools, higher education, liturgical, medical, and correctional projects to name a few. Daily duties may include: design calculations and analysis, review of shop drawings, writing/editing of electrical specifications, and selecting equipment for electrical power and lighting, fire alarm systems, and communication systems. This position requires an individual who can provide the utmost in accuracy of all technical work and correspondence and must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the design team and our clients. You will be responsible for dealing directly with clients and the design team to establish parameters and goals of the project. You will help develop company design standards and mentor younger engineers.


  • BSEE or BSAE (with electrical emphasis)
  • Professional Registration in the State of Colorado (or ability to obtain)
  • 4 years minimum design experience in a Consulting or A/E firm
  • LEED certification a plus
  • RCDD certification a plus
  • Strong knowledge of relevant systems and codes
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with clients
  • Proficient in REVIT, MEP, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
  • Strong project management skills
